South Jeff Students Unveil Mural Honoring VeteransStudents at South Jefferson Central School unveiled a mural Thursday in honor of Veterans Day. It's a beautiful mural on the wall of the Adams VFW, one that took 40 students weeks to create, but to the students behind it, it's much more than that. "I, being an Army brat will never forget the sacrifice that they have all made and I will always look up to my own father, my hero," said student Amber Burger. Burger's father is one of many local veterans who inspired the artwork and who is depicted in the mural. "I'm so proud to be a veteran right now," said VFW Post Commander Stephen Denny. Members of the VFW say the mural is a reminder that so many are grateful for their sacrifices. "The patriotism and enthusiasm of the young kids today is just . . . I can't put it in words," Denny said. For some of the students, completing this project means more than just finishing a piece of art work. Some say it gives them a whole new appreciation for what Veterans Day really means. "I kinda took the day for granted, like it's a free day and I don't have to go to school, but after doing this project I realize how much it does mean to our country," said student Breannan Misner.
