Workers Return After Evacuating St. Lawrence County Courthouse

A blown fluorescent light in a St. Lawrence County courtroom touched off a minor smoky fire Friday afternoon.

It was enough to prompt the evacuation of the courthouse for close to 40 minutes.

No one was injured.

County judges and other employees were allowed back in the building at 2:35 p.m. to resume court and other business.

Crews had difficulty removing the blown light because of the high ceiling.

Workers had to wait until the building was cleared of smoke before being allowed back in the courthouse.
