St. Lawrence County DA's Office Losing 2 Prosecutors

The St. Lawrence County District Attorney's Office is losing two assistant prosecutors.

Chief Assistant DA Amanda Nissen will leave the office Friday to accept a position with the New York State Police Counsel's Office.

Nissen just finished prosecuting three Ogdensburg men for murder; one suspect was convicted, while the other two were acquitted.

Assistant DA Jonathan Becker is leaving at the end of the month to work as an attorney in Otsego County.

District Attorney Nicole Duve says the two assistant prosecutors "will be tough to replace."

Nissen has been an assistant DA since November 2009.

Duve says Nissen "is a very competent attorney and the State Police are getting a fine person."

Duve says she is "taking steps" to find replacements.

The county is under a hiring freeze and legislators would need to approve any new hires to the DA's office.
