State Fair Less Than a Month Away!

Will Shine Spotlight on NY Agriculture

For some, it marks the unofficial end of summer, but for others, it's nearly two weeks of fun!

The 165th New York State Fair returns next month.

Of course, fair-goers can expect big music acts, hair-raising rides, and the usual good (mostly fried) food.

But, organizers say there is an educational side to the fair as well.

"We really put an emphasis on the educational component of agriculture because we want people to really understand a) where their food comes from, but b) to really understand also agricultural is in the New York State economy," explained New York State Fair Director Dan O'Hara, during a recent trip to Watertown.

The gates officially open for the fair on August 23rd.
