Another Republican has stepped forward to challenge north country Congressman Bill Owens.
The newspaper Roll Call, which covers Congress and congressional races, reports that former George W. Bush administration aide Elise Stefanik announced her candidacy by releasing a campaign video.
You can see the video on YouTube.
Stefanik is the second Republican to step forward to challenge the Democratic incumbent. Joe Gilbert, St. Lawrence County's emergency services director announced his candidacy last week.
Stefanik is from Willsboro, N.Y., on the eastern end of the 21st District. Roll Call reports she recently returned to northern New York to help in her family's plywood business.
