Tools

The lake effect snow warning has been discontinued for Jefferson County, but it continues in Lewis County until 10 p.m. Thursday.

In addition, a wind chill advisory is in effect from midnight to 10 a.m. Friday in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.

Forecasters expect 5 to 9 inches of snow to fall, with roughly the same amount in Lewis County, where a warning was already posted.

The lake effect system caused many schools and organizations to close early and postpone activities.

Even without lake effect, there's still plenty of snow blowing around, which could make driving difficult.

Temperatures will drop down to an overnight low Thursday into Friday of around 10 below zero.

It will be partly sunny Friday, with snow showers possible in the afternoon. The high will only be around 10 above.

The temperature pops up to the mid-30s on Saturday under cloudy skies, but dips back down to around 10 below overnight into Sunday when another cold front moves through.Even without lake effect, there's still plenty of snow blowing around, which could make driving difficult.
