A close call on Sissonville Road in the Town of Potsdam Saturday led to the arrest of Ryan M. Gibson on a charge of driving whle intoxicated.
Gibson is 22 and from St. Regis Falls.
In a press release, St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies said a motorist reported he was forced off the road Saturday to avoid hitting a Jeep coming the other way.
Deputies said the caught up with Gibson's Jeep in the V.F.W. parking lot on Market Street in Potsdam. They said he was getting ready to drive back out onto Market Street when they stopped him.
Gibson was charged with driving while intoxicated after a test showed his blood alcohol content was 0.17 percent, more than twice the legal limit, deputies said.
They also charged Gibson with aggravated unlicensed operation, third degree, and unlicensed operation. Deputies said Gibson's "driving privileges" were already suspended.
On top of that, Gibson was issued tickets alleging failure to keep right, consumption of alcohol in a vehicle and refusing to submit to a breath screening test.
Gibson was released to appear in court in April.
