There may be a primary for St. Lawrence County District Attorney.
Attorney Peter Dumas met with county Conservatives today (Sunday) where he made his intentions known.
Dumas told 7 News reporter John Friot he planned to seek both the Republican and Conservative nominations.
"It's official," Dumas said, "I don't have any official party backing yet but will be attempting to garner the GOP and Conservatives."
Dumas has been a defense attorney for a number of years in Franklin County. Dumas is best known for representing Wayne Oxley in his third murder trial last year. A jury acquitted Oxley of killing neighbor Bernard Trickey in August 2005.
Ogdensburg attorney Mary Rain has also announced plans to run for DA as a Republican and Conservative.
District Attorney Nicole Duve, a Democrat, has yet to officially announce her re-election plans but is expected to seek a second term.
