Sunday: Fire Destroys Barn, More Than 100 Head of Cattle Believed to be Dead
A barn is destroyed and more than 100 head of cattle are believed to be dead after a fire in the town of Orleans.
The fire broke out at around 8:30 P.M. at 23878 Route 411, near County Route 15. The barn was owned by Dan and Debbie Davis.
Over a dozen fire departments were called to the scene. Officials say the fire was small when they arrived but it grew quickly, making it extremely hard to fight. Getting water to the scene was also a challenge, as the closest place to fill tankers was approximately five miles away.
Firefighters were able to protect a nearby residental trailer. Officials believe the fire started inside the barn. The cause is still being investigated.
