A Texas man allegedly driving a stolen pickup was stopped near Adams Center following a lengthy chase on Interstate 81 Tuesday night.

State police say the chase started when they tried to pull Christopher Moore of Dallas over for speeding near Homer, N.Y. in Cortland County.

Moore allegedly refused to stop, so police began a chase that ended at the Adams Center off ramp where police had deployed stop strips.

The vehicle was disabled and came to a stop. Moore was not injured.

Police discovered that the 2008 Nissan Tundra Moore was driving was reported stolen on May 31 near Kilgore, Texas.

They also discovered he was driving with an expired licensed and had glass pipes in the vehicle, both of which had marijuana residue.

He was charged with third degree criminal possession of stolen property, third degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, unlawful possession of marijuana, and a number of vehicle and traffic charges that include speeding and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

He was arraigned in Ellisburg town court and sent to Jefferson County jail without bail.

Troopers say Moore has no ties to the north country.
