Three family dogs were killed in a fire Thursday morning in the St. Lawrence County town of Pitcairn.

The dogs were at a home occupied by Christin Denton and Mary McIntosh on County Route 26. The two lost everything, family members say.

A structure on the property burned, killing the animals.

Firefighters from Harrisville, Fine, Edwards, Gouverneur, Natural Bridge, Carthage and Star Lake fought the fire.

The fire was caused by an electrical malfunction, according to the news release.

The building is a "total loss."

The property is owned by Gary Russell.

Anyone who wants to donate clothing or household items can take them to 540 Van Buren Road in Gouverneur or 403 Stone Road in Harrisville.
