A Pennsylvania man was being held without bail Thursday morning, after being charged with stealing the drug "suboxone" from another man.
Gouverneur police charged Christopher Klement,19, with robbery, menacing and petit larceny.
Klement approached a car occupied by Brian and Amber Simmons of Gouverneur, who were parked behind a downtown business around noon Wednesday, reached in and grabbed five to seven suboxone strips, police said.
When Simmons chased Klement, Klement pulled a knife and threatened to stab Simmons, police said.
Suboxone - whose technical name is buprenorphine - is a drug used to treat painkiller addiction, but is itself abused by addicts, and is especially noteworthy because it's easy to smuggle into jails, making it popular among inmates.
Klement was ordered held without bail pending another court appearance.
