Time Running Out For Comments On Water Levels

Tools

Time is running out to share your thoughts on the water levels on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River.

The International Joint Commission is taking comments on its latest management plan.

Opponents say Plan 2014 will cause flooding and damage along the eastern and southern shores of Lake Ontario.

Supporters say it will provide a more balanced approach to water cycles that will benefit the local economy.

No matter what your position, you have to make your opinion known by Friday.

"The IJC is looking to make a decision soon to refer the plan to the federal governments in Canada and the U.S. and the more expressions of support they have, they think the more likely they are to make that referral," said Lee Willbanks, executive director of Save the River.

You can make your comment on this latest water levels management plan by going to the IJC website at www.ijc.org.
