Tops Opens Grocery Store In Adams

The former Big M grocery store in Adams officially opened Thursday under new ownership and a new name.

Tops Friendly Markets purchased the retailer and three other Big M locations from the Bonisteel family in May.

Tops cut the ribbon on its newly renovated store during a ceremony Thursday morning.

The company reorganized the interior and expanded the bakery.

"We've renovated the inside. We've transitions the store to Tops and we're really excited to be serving customers here in Adams," said Frank Curci, Tops' president and CEO.

To show its commitment to the community, Tops awarded $500 checks to the Adams Fire Department, Rohde Center food pantry and the Operation Backpack program at South Jefferson Central School.

Tops also purchased three other Big M stores in Boonville, Sandy Creek and Mexico in the spring.
