A 59 year old Adams man died Friday following an accident involving a farm tractor.

State police identified the man as Robert Hatch of 17573 County Route 189.

It happened shortly before 5 p.m. Friday on Bishop Street Road in the town of Henderson.

An employee of Deer Run Dairy LLC, Hatch was operating an enclosed cab Case International farm tractor and towing a Myers manure spreader, police said.

Police said Hatch's tractor went off the shoulder of the road, traveled approximately 100 yards through brush, landed in a swampy area and became buried in the mud.

A person in the area saw that Hatch was unconscious in the cab and called 911.

The driver may have suffered from a medical problem prior to the accident, police said.

Hatch was rushed to Samaritan Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The tractor was recovered with the assistance of several local farmers.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the Smithville Fire Department.
