Trust Gives $10K To Study Complex For Watertown

Efforts are underway to bring a big multi-purpose complex to Watertown.

The Watertown Local Development Corporation, also known as the Watertown Trust, has agreed to contribute $10,000 toward a feasibility study.

The complex would be built next on the Jefferson Community College campus where Whispering Pines Adult Home now stands.

The home is expected to close in the next year.

The complex would be able to seat thousands of people for events.

Plans could include an ice skating rink and classroom space for JCC.

"It's an all-around building that will meet the needs of the growing campus of JCC. The population is growing. The needs are there and also the community needs will be met," said Dan Villa of the JCC Board of Trustees.

The $40,000 study will look into how much the complex would cost to build and whether or not the community would support it.
