Fire Truck Damaged In Collision

A fire truck on its way to fight a grass fire was damaged Tuesday afternoon when it collided with a pickup truck.

The accident was at the intersection of county routes 66  and 62 in the Town of Hounsfield.

The fire truck, driven by 29 year old Patrick Amell of Dexter, was a tanker from Pillar Point that was on its way to a large grass fire in Adams.

The driver of the pickup, 39 year old David Bolton of Watertown, was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for observation.

Deputies say the fire truck slowed for a stop sign at the intersection, but didn't come to a complete stop. Police say Amell didn't see the pickup because of trees that blocked his view.

No tickets were issued.
