Hall Of Many Colors

A little bit of paint is going a long way for work place morale.

Walk around city hall in Watertown and you'll see a nice sage green in the planning office, electric blue in another work space - and for public works,  the color of choice is a bright red.

"As long as we were repainting all the offices anyway, it was a good idea to let people pick out one wall for an accent color," said Jeff Graham, Watertown's mayor.

The program started about a year ago. It's aimed at making employees feel more at home at city hall. City purchasing manager Amy Pastuf chose 'Carribean Teal' when she came to work for the city last summer.

"I thought it was kind of unique," Pastuf said. "Usually you don't get to pick your environment working for the government. I thought it was a nice touch."

For those who share an office, it takes a little team work to choose a hue.

"We picked 'Heritage Blue' and we picked the color because its very calming.  There's three of us in the office and it's something we agreed on," said Celeste Kiblin, principal account clerk.

"We're here in the office longer than we're in our own homes, so you just want something that's nice to look at," said Kiblin.

As for the mayor's office, Graham didn't pick his own color, a dark red.  He says in the future he might go with something a little brighter.
