Feedback: Teaching Assistant Is Third Man Charged In 'Craigslist' Sex CaseFor the third time in a week, state police say an ad placed on Craigslist was the connection between an adult man and an under age male. A 30 year old Antwerp man faces charges for allegedly having sexual contact with a 14 year old boy. State police charged Jason Harris of 223 Main Street with two counts of second-degree criminal sex act. Harris was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Orleans Town Court. Hammond Central School District Superintendent Douglas McQueer confirmed that Harris is a teaching assistant who works with elementary school children. McQueer also said Harris is the school's speech and debate coach. According to court documents, Harris had oral sex with the boy on July 5 at a camp at Hyde Lake in Theresa. The camp's address was the same location named in another complaint against a Watertown man accused of having sexual contact with the same boy, who recently turned 15.  Police charged 31 year old Joshua Lifton (picuted at left) of 303 Winslow Street in Watertown with one count of third-degree criminal sex act.Police said Lifton placed an ad on Craigslist "and did meet a male subject in response to that ad and engaged in oral sex with same," according to a state police statement. "The victim turned out to be under age."
The incident took place July 17 in the town of Philadelphia, police said.
However, court documents state the alleged incident happened at a campsite at Hyde Lake in Theresa - the same address listed in Harris' court papers.
We're trying to resolve the discrepancy.
Police said the youth involved in the Lifton and Harris cases is the same boy who was involved in a case last week.
A 40 year old Watertown man was accused of having oral sex with the boy, again in the town of Philadelphia and again, it was set up through a Craigslist ad, police said.
According to police, Barker (pictured at left) engaged in oral sex with the 15 year old male on July 11 in the town of Philadelphia. Barker was arraigned in LeRay Town Court and posted $1,000 bail. (The original police report said he was arraigned in Pamelia Town Court.) Lifton was ordered held in the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail. Police said the boy will not be charged. According to police, the three suspects said they believed the boy was 17 years old, which is considered an adult under the law.
