Two Injured In Crash Between Pickup And Dump Truck

Two people were taken to Samaritan Medical Center Wednesday afternoon after their pickup truck was struck by a dump truck.

It happened at the intersection of Fuller and Caird roads in the town of Adams.

State police said a dump truck driven by 48 year old William Matejcik of Calcium was traveling on Caird Road and failed to stop at the stop sign.

According to police, the truck collided with a pickup, which was traveling south on Fuller Road.

The pickup spun out of control, left the road, traveled 200 feet and hit a tree, officials said.

Police said the driver and passenger in the pickup, Daniel Grandjean and his mother, Connie, of Rodman, were trapped in the vehicle until rescue crews could free them from the wreckage.

According to police, the two in the pickup suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said the driver of the dump truck told police his brakes failed, which is why he was unable to stop at the intersection.

Matejcik was uninjured and was driving a truck owned by Porterdale Farms.
