Unlicensed Dog Population On Rise In Jefferson County


Dog control officers say the number of unlicensed dogs in Jefferson County is on the rise.

According to recent census numbers, there are more than 11,000 registered dogs.

But officers say there could be another 8,000 unlicensed dogs.

"We're catching unlicensed dogs on a daily basis. It's a never ending battle," said Todd Cummings of Jefferson County Dog Control.

Towns and villages rely heavily on revenue generated by dog licenses
