Two Injured in Town of Alexandria Accident ID'd

State Police continue to investigate a head on collision in the town of Alexandria that sent two people to the hospital Friday night - one, by helicopter.

The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. on Route 37 just north of Redwood, when a north bound pickup truck driven by Joseph Ayen of Ogdensburg crossed the center lane, striking an SUV driven by Damian Marotta of Baldwin.

The pickup truck was nearly sliced in two by the crash. It also caught fire.

Ayen was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with serious injuries.

Marotta suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown by ambulance.

Officials say further cause of the accident is under ongoing investigation.
