Upstate NY Drone Test Site?

Upstate New York is competing to be one of six new drone test sites.

The Federal Aviation Administration is in the process of selecting the new sites.

The program will provide data to help integrate drones into the same airspace as airplanes.

Organizations and businesses are working together to promote Upstate New York as a possible test site. The group believes it could mean big money for the state.

"They're talking about $94 billion being spent in the United States in the next ten years," said Deborah Warner of CenterState CEO. "They're talking about creating 23,000 new jobs in the United States."

"And we think we can capture a lot of that investment and a lot of those jobs," she said.

There is a lot of competition, though. More than 40 states are competing for the test sites.
