Think one buck won't buy you much these days? Think again.
At a Dollar Dinner Night, put on by the Urban Mission, one buck can get you a full meal.
"We call them comfort foods. It's meals like spaghetti or turkey dinners, or roast chicken. They're all warm meals and usually dessert is served as well," said Watertown Urban Mission Executive Director Erika Flint.
The Urban Mission's Dollar Dinners kicked off Wednesday, to help feed the Watertown community.
Since they first started in 2006, attendance has risen dramatically, thanks to word of mouth and to the work of volunteers.
"We have so many more participating member churches and organizations who put on the dinners," Flint said. "We're up to having at least 30 dinners a season and usually it goes higher than that."
All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Watertown played host for the first Dollar Dinner Night of this season, which will run through April.

Officals say this is not just about feeding the needy, it's about bringing people together.
"This is for everybody in the community," said Lee Brown, a Dollar Dinner volunteer. "We love to have people come in and sit with people that they might not know and sometimes we have whole neighborhoods of people that seem to show up."
All the money taken in at the dinners goes back to the Urban Mission to help keep the tradition going.
