As nominees for the New York State Senate "Veterans Hall of Fame," 29 north country military veterans were honored Friday on Fort Drum.

The veterans from Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Oswego counties were nominated by friends and colleagues not only for their service to the country, but also for dedicating time and energy to their communities.

"To see these guys from all the different generations all together in one room, just makes you feel proud to be an American," said nominee Robert Giordana.

"Everyone who is here is a hero," said nominee Patrick Rourk.

Retired Colonel Terrence Roche was chosen as the Hall of Fame inductee.

He could not attend the ceremony.
