Veteran's ID Cards A Success In St. Lawrence CountyIt's been three months since St. Lawrence County first unveiled a new veteran's identification card. The card is good for discounts at participating businesses and has been a resounding success so far. About 500 veterans have now received their ID cards. County clerk Mary Lou Rupp and Veterans Services director Michael Boprey teamed up to start the program. At this point, more than 70 local businesses are offering a variety of discounts to participating veterans, but the program is always looking for more businesses to participate. "It will hopefully benefit them with the extra business that they'll get," Rupp said. It's a way of saying 'thank you' to the veterans, too, for their service and sacrifice," she said. Veterans who are interested in obtaining an ID card can stop in the county clerk's office with their DD Form 214 or visit the county clerk's website at www.co.st-lawrence.ny.us. |
