Villagers Fight Back in Alex Bay's Annual Pirate Invasion

It's an annual tradition in Alexandria Bay during Pirate Days. Pirates invade Alexandria Bay and take over in a fun display.

Villagers of Alexandria Bay have never won a battle against Bill Johnston and the invading pirates.

The pirates kidnap the man playing the mayor, and take him on board the ship. Every year the pirates take over the village, but not this time. In honor of Alex Bay resident Paul Wibby, who passed away from a heart attack this year, the villagers would wage victorious.

"(Wibby) helped everybody in the village, plowed snow or blew snow. He was a good mate," said Tom Feinberg, a spectator and friend of the late Wibby.

Pirate Days continues in Alex Bay until August 17.
