You likely don't know Don LaPage's name, even if you're a longtime viewer of WWNY.
But you should. Don - who died Friday at the age of 85 - was a fixture of the tv station for nearly 40 years, working at WWNY from 1955 to 1992.
He was primarily a news photographer, and he came up during an era when news photography was technically demanding - everything was shot on film, which was then dumped into chemical baths that would turn the film into the pictures you'd see on tv. A lot could go wrong. It was an era that required and rewarded craft, and Don was a craftsman.
He was a lot of other things as well to the people who worked with him, including Anne Richter, who remembered Don on Monday night's 6 pm news. Click on the picture to watch, and to read Don's full obituary, look here.
