Summer lived up to its name Friday.
Although the weather for the last few days has been perfect for a lot of folks, it's been cold enough at night to warrant putting down the windows, or throwing on a light jacket.
That has ended, for the time being.
Temperatures in Watertown peaked at 78 degrees at 4 pm Friday, and gently sloped down for the next few hours. But - and here's the difference - the low Friday night won't be very low. The absolute coolest it should be in Watertown, in the wee small hours of the morning, is only 61.
Friday, the first official day of summer, was the capper in a stretch of nice days that came after a much needed rainy spell.
"We've had over five inches already and the month isn't even over, so it's really made up for the drier earlier months," said Jessica L. Rennells, Climatologist, of the Northeast Regional Climate Center.
For the record, we might get a little rain the first part of the week, and the highs will be in the low 80s - just in time for city pools to open Monday.
