People usually go down ski slopes, and usually they do it on skis.
At Snow Ridge ski resort in Turin Saturday, snowmobilers prepared to do the exact opposite - use a ski hill as a challenge to go up.
Saturday marked the seventh year Snow Ridge has hosted a 'hill climb' for snowmobilers. It is now said to be the largest in the northeast.
"Snowmobilers are always looking for somewhere to go," said Russell Horn of Snow Ridge.
"Seven years ago, we started this not knowing what would happen. We ended up with anywhere from 150 to 2000 spectators, 500 people to race.
"It's pretty obvious they need a place to go, enjoy themselves and do this and there's no better place than a ski area."
Competition was expected to run until midnight Saturday. The next hill run at Snow Ridge is set for February 9.
