Tools

More than 60 people took part Sunday at Jefferson Community College in a three kilometer "Out Of The Darkness" walk for suicide prevention.

This was the first year for the walk, which was done on behalf of the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention.

The turnbout was enough for organizer Kelli Fleming to declare herself "ecstatic" and say that there will be a walk next year.

One of the walkers, Robert Bowen, said he was walking to "raise awareness."

"It's the second leading cause of death among college students, and it's something that's not talked about," he said.
