Six new businesses have either opened or are getting ready to open, in and around Lowville.
For the most part, they are local franchises of large chains - an Advance Auto Parts, a Family Dollar, a Fastrac, a Nice N Easy. Also opening, a feed store.
And perhaps most intriguing, a golf simulator has opened on Number 4 Road in the Town of Lowville.
3D Sports & Lounge projects views of real golf courses - think Pebble Beach or Augusta - while a camera and microphone track the progress of the ball you hit.
As it turns out, the system is pretty accurate.
"I know personally, I have a slice, and it has no problem picking that up, unfortunately," said Bob Burke, one of the owners.
"The accuracy is one of the points that makes the simulator so unique."
