More than a dozen bands performed Sunday at Watertown's Northside Improvement League to raise money for Newtown, Connecticut.
Mayor Jeff Graham declared Sunday 'Newtown Memorial Day.' On December 14, 2012, 20 elementary school children and six adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.
"When something like that happens, it's good to know that there's other people behind you and care about your situation," Mayor Graham said Sunday.
Admission to the day long concert was $5. The money will be added to the reported $8 million that has already been raised world wide for Newtown.
"For us, it's seeing what happened and being so impacted by it that we felt like we wanted to do something," said Robin Davis, one of the event's organizers. "And this was really the only thing we could do to help them."
