Update: Water Emergency Continues In Star Lake

Tuesday brought no relief for Star Lake's water problems.

Residents have water - but not much. And they are strictly forbidden to use the water for many common tasks.

The community's 200,000 gallon water storage tank was drained Sunday when the 60 year old system was hit with a greater demand than it could handle, town officials said.

Town workers walked the streets Tuesday with detection tools, trying to determine whether a water main break exists that may have contributed to the problem.

Town officials said residents are still being advised to boil their water before consumption while plans are in the works to bring a portable water supply in.

Town officials said a company specializing in water leak detection was on its way to Star Lake Tuesday to assist in locating where the problem exists.

Meanwhile, people living in the district are not allowed to:

- Water their lawns or gardens

- Wash their cars, trailers, outdoor equipment, houses or any other outdoor surface

- Fill swimming or wading pools

- Use water from fire hydrants.

And - according to a statement from the Town of Fine Tuesday - "bathing should be reduced to a minimum."
