It takes six gallons of paint and countless gallons of water.

The end result is a fresh sheet of ice.

That's what a Parks and Recreation crew expects to have by Saturday at the municipal Arena in Watertown.

The process started on Monday.

On Tuesday, workers started flooding the surface.

When all is said and done, the ice will be an inch thick and ready to go.

"We're looking at a few more minor hockey tournaments and we're also looking at a proposed Wounded Warriors tournament that may be coming in the beginning of January," said Erin Gardner, Parks and Recreation superintendent.

The Thousand Islands Privateers is also back for another season.

The pro hockey team starts practicing on October 21.
