Watertown Boy Falls 30 Feet On River Bank

A 14 year old Watertown boy escaped injury after falling 30 feet on the banks of the Black River.

City firefighters said Zachary Ward lost his footing while walking beneath the Court Street Bridge and slipped down an embankment.

He used his cell phone to call for help.

"When I talked to him on the river bank, he claimed that he was fine, he was just scared from the fall," said Fire Battalion Chief Patrick Wiley.

Firefighters are urging people to keep their distance from the river because it's swollen and running fast as a result of all the rain we've had.
