Watertown City Officials To Hear Latest Woolworth Building Plan

Watertown's city council will get a look at the latest vision for the original Woolworth building in downtown Watertown when it meets Monday night.

Long Island developer Michael Treanor has brought in a partner, David Gallo, to help develop the vacant landmark at the corner of Arsenal and Washington streets.

Gallo will outline the $7 million plan to renovate the building into 60 apartments.

The developer is hoping for a state grant, land near the Woodruff Professional Building, the land at the corner of Arsenal and Arcade streets where the city bus stop is, and a tax break known as a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes, or PILOT, agreement.

The council's work session begins at 7 p.m.
