Man Trying To Stay Warm Sets Fire In Abandoned HouseA man trying to stay warm in an abandoned house is what started a fire in the 200 block of Sterling Street early Tuesday morning, police say.
Officials say the fire was contained inside the box and did not spread to the house. Firefighters were called to the scene at 5:15 a.m. and had to break a door in to gain access. Several windows appear to be boarded up.
Smoke could be seen coming from the eves of the roof and the smell of smoke permeated the neighborhood. Police have not released the man's name but say he had set fire to some materials inside the metal tool box shown below. The man was turned over to relatives. He was not arrested.
