Watertown Man Facing Federal Firearm Charges

A 38 year old Watertown man faces federal charges for allegedly possessing a stolen semi-automatic shotgun.

A federal grand jury in Syracuse indicted Shawn Adams with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.

The indictment alleges that Adams possessed a stolen Remington, SPR 453, 12 gauge, semi-automatic shotgun that had been manufactured in Russia, which had been shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce.

If found guilty, Adams faces 15 years to life in prison, up to five years supervised release and a maximum fine of $250,000.

The prosecution resulted from an investigation conducted by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) Syracuse Office, the Watertown Police Department and the New York State Police Troop D Unit.
