Watertown Man Arrested In Connection With Police Chase

A 35 year old Watertown man is being held in the Jefferson County Jail after allegedly leading police on a vehicle and foot chase.

City police arrested Jeremy Fanelli-Cressman of 825 Lawrence Street.

Police said they were executing a warrant for Cressman Thursday afternoon in connection with a sealed indictment.

According to police, they ordered Cressman to stop his sports utility vehicle, which he backed into his driveway.

When officers approached Cressman's vehicle, they said Cressman maneuvered around them and sped off.

He allegedly led patrols on a chase through several streets on the north side of Watertown before heading towards Evans Mills.

Police stopped pursuing him, but continued their investigation.

About four hours later, officials from several law enforcement agencies said they found Cressman and his SUV hidden behind a home on Blue Mountain Road in the St. Lawrence County town of Fine.

As officers approached Cressman, they said he ran into the woods.

At about 7:15 p.m., five hours after the pursuit began, Cressman was caught and taken back to Watertown.

The sealed indictment against Cressman was opened in Jefferson County Court Friday afternoon.

He's charged with two counts each of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Officials said the controlled substance was cocaine.

He was ordered held in the county jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

Police said vehicle and traffic charges will be filed against Cressman at a later time.
