Watertown Mayoral Candidates Cast BallotsBoth Watertown mayoral candidates have cast their ballots. Among the voters who were up bright and early was Watertown Mayor Jeff Graham, who's seeking reelection. He arrived just after 6 a.m. at his polling place, Midtown Towers, and didn't miss the opportunity to meet and greet a few potential supporters. Graham said he intends to relax a bit today, while keeping an eye on the voting. "We want to make sure people do turn out," he said. "You do spend a little bit of time trying to be visible today, but mostly all of it's over and if someone hasn't decided by now, they're probably not going to. "I think what you do is spend the day just trying to be with people and reflect on the campaign going by and look forward to the great night we're going to have tonight," Graham said. Graham has been mayor for 16 years, though not consecutively. Just after 7 a.m., Councilman and mayoral candidate Jeff Smith and his family arrived at their polling place, Stone Presbyterian Church. Smith said he has a busy schedule, but not with campaigning. Instead, it's mostly work and family related. "We have hockey practice with one of the kids, we have a lot of housework I haven't been able to get done because of campaigning and a little birthday party, campaign party tonight," Smith said. "I'll try to keep as busy as I can. I've got to work this morning, I've got a surgical case on this morning, I'll try to keep it as normal a day and as packed as I can so it goes by," Smith said. Should Smith win the race, he'll have two reasons to celebrate. Today is also his birthday. Most Popular |
