Watertown To Install Ski Netting At Sledding Hill

Plans are underway for the city of Watertown put up ski netting at the bottom of Thompson Park's sledding hill.

This comes after two kids fractured their femurs after hitting the hay bales that now sit at the bottom of the hill. 

The ski netting is expected to cost between $2,000 and $3,000 and will be up by early next week.

"There may be other options. We're exploring everything at this point in time, but for now it's a three or four day turnaround. We can place the order today or tomorrow and have the next up by the beginning of next week," said Erin Gardner, superintendent of the city's Parks & Recreation Department.

The fence will line the bottom of the hill and one of the sides in hopes of keeping sledders a little more safe.
