Watertown Woman Killed In Boating Accident

MGN Online

A Watertown woman died early Sunday morning following a boating accident in Canadian waters of the St. Lawrence River.

Ontario Provincial Police identified the victim as 41 year old Rena Fearon, no address available.

(Our complete obituary is posted here.)

The OPP said Fearon was operating a Sea Hunt motor boat late Saturday night when the boat hit a shoal.

Fearon was thrown out of the craft, officials said.

A male passenger, who was not identified, remained in the boat.

The OPP would not disclose if he was injured. Other sources indicate he was treated for head trauma.

According to the OPP, Fearon was taken by ambulance to a Kingston hospital where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy was set for Monday afternoon.

Information obtained from the U.S. Coast Guard, which also responded to the accident scene, contradicts the OPP's details.

Coast Guard officials said Fearon was a passenger in the boat and that she died at the scene.

They said the accident happened near Butts Island.
