Watertown's Crow Hazing Is Underway

Watertown began its crow hazing program late Monday afternoon.

Crews from Loomacres Wildlife Management Company are set up along the Veterans Memorial Walkway off Public Square.

What they're trying to do is scare the crows away from the city where they come in to roost each winter.

The wildlife biologists are using remote controlled aircraft, recorded distress calls, lasers and pyrotechnics to shoo away the birds.

The hazing will last from dusk until dawn through December 23.

Experts estimate there are as many as 30,000 crows living in Watertown.
