A Mess In Mannsville
It's the biggest building in the village of Mannsville, a brick structure on Main Street. Arguably, it's also the worst.
From the front, the 127 year old 'Huggins & Bettinger' building shows wear and tear. Around back, things are much worse - the wood is rotted, bricks are pushing out.
"The water has been running in the building for 15 years, and you can see looking at it that it's just falling right apart," said Jon Besaw, who lives near the building.
The village would like to condemn the building and tear it down. Village officials would also like to know: why doesn't the owner do something?
Good question. But the owner can't be reached.
While records show J.A. Investments Enterprise out of Miami owns the property, village officials say the owner lives in Spain - and letters they send telling him to fix the building get returned.
"This isn't the first time that we've tried to contact him because of the issues with the building," said village mayor Lori Cashel.
7 News was unable to reach McKenna-Davis Wednesday.
