What's Going On At WHS Track?

If you've driven by Watertown High School in the past weeks, you may have noticed a few projects going on.

Inside the school, the ceilings are being redone and asbestos has to be removed.

Right now, the entire third floor is sealed off as about a dozen workers clear out the material.

Outside, The track is being refinished.

The rubber spray that workers are putting on the current track tends to splatter and can be picked up by the wind.

That's why those plastic tarps are up and have been up for a while.

"We've had a tremendous amount of rain and higher winds that normal, so with that there's a lot of time in between when they can actually perform the work," said Kyle Deeb of Construction Associates, which is overseeing the project.

Deeb says the track refinishing should be finished in the next week and a half.

As for the asbestos abatement, that should be done by summer's end.
