A large fire was burning Friday afternoon in the woods near Sevey's Corners in the Town of Colton.

7 News reporter John Friot, on scene, said six departments were on hand to fight the fire. Friot said the fire was roughly five miles off Route 3 in the woods.

Friot said the fire is between Sevey's Corners and Cranberry Lake.

Volunteers from Colton, Parishville, Piercefield, Star Lake, Cranberry Lake and Fine are using portable water tanks and all-terrain vehicles to reach the fire.

Conditions are dry in the Adirondacks.
