The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning beginning at midnight tonight for Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.

The warning is in effect in Jefferson and Lewis counties until 9 a.m. Wednesday and 7 p.m. for St. Lawrence.

A wind chill warning is issued when winds will combine with bitterly cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for exposed skin.

The wind will make it feel like it is 35 degrees below zero or colder for several hours.

There will be the potential for frostbite and hypothermia from prolonged exposure to bitterly cold wind chills.

Those planning to venture outdoors should use common sense and dress warmly.

According to 7 News weathercaster John Kubis, the coldest air temperatures will be recorded between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. Wednesday.
