Winter Storm Warning, State Of Emergency Issued For North Country


The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties until 1 p.m. Friday.

In Jefferson and Lewis counties, the forecast calls for an inch or less Thursday afternoon, another 4 to 7 inches Thursday night and an additional 1 to 3 inches Friday.

The counties can expect storm totals of 6 to 10 inches.

In St. Lawrence County, the forecast calls for 4 to 8 inches of snow.

Late Thursday afternoon, the governor has also included the north country in his state of emergency declaration.

The snow is part of a larger ice and snow storm that has now moved from the South and up the Atlantic coast.
