Witness In Oxley Murder Trial Fears for Her Safety

A defense witness in the Wayne Oxley murder trial says she fears for her safety after receiving death threats.

Michelle Disotell says she's so afraid, she wants to testify under an alias.

Disotell is currently an inmate in the St. Lawrence County Jail, where she's being held on welfare fraud charges.

At a hearing in county court without the jury present, Disotelle testified that an alleged drug dealer and not Oxley may have killed murder victim Bernard Trickey with a gun in August 2005.

In Oxley's first trial, Disotell put three alleged drug dealers at Trickey's house a few hours before he was killed.

In September 2010, Disotell recanted her story.

She told prosecutors she made it up - claiming she was in drug rehabilitation at the time and unable to distinguish between fact or fiction.

No perjury charges were lodged.

The judge is expected to rule Wednesday morning whether Disotell will be able to testify using an alias.
